Let's be clear up front: this is a rumour resting on a single insider, so treat it as a maybe, not a plan. With that said, it's a specific maybe, and Opening Night Live is close enough to check.
What was actually said
As reported by Beebom, the insider NateTheHate was asked whether a mystery Xbox game rumoured for Gamescom would be a sequel to something recent or a revival of an older IP. His answer was the former, a sequel to something recent. That's it. No title, no studio, no footage, just a nudge toward which shelf it's on.
How much to trust it
NateTheHate has a decent hit rate on this stuff, better than most, but decent isn't spotless, and a one-word reply to a leading question is about the thinnest a leak gets. There's no way to sanity-check it until it's on screen or it isn't. So file it under plausible-but-unproven and don't go building a wishlist around it.
When you'll know
Gamescom's Opening Night Live runs August 25, kicking off at 7pm BST, and we've already gone through what's actually confirmed for the show. If Xbox has a surprise sequel to drop, that's where it lands. Five days, and we stop guessing.
