Who this policy is from
Orderly Panic (orderlypanic.com) is a video game news and commentary site operated by Orderly Panic ("we", "us", "our"). This policy explains what personal data we collect when you use the site, how we use it, and what rights you have under the data-protection law that applies in the United Kingdom.

What this policy covers
This policy applies to orderlypanic.com and any of its subdomains. It does not apply to third-party sites we link to; those sites have their own policies.
What we collect and why
Comments
If you leave a comment on an article, we store:
- The name you provide
- The text of your comment
- Your IP address (used for spam prevention and moderation)
- A timestamp of when the comment was submitted
We do not ask for or collect an email address when you comment.
Why: to publish reader discussion and to prevent abuse of the comment system.
Session cookie
When you visit the site your browser is issued a single session cookie (PHPSESSID). It is used only to:
- Maintain an administrator login for the site operator
- Protect form submissions against cross-site request forgery (CSRF)
It contains no personal data and expires when you close your browser. It is a strictly necessary cookie, so no consent banner is shown for it.
Server logs and traffic counts
Our hosting provider keeps standard web-server access logs (IP addresses, pages requested, timestamps, response codes, browser user-agent strings). We also record basic first-party page-view counts to understand how much traffic the site gets.
We do not use any third-party analytics service (no Google Analytics, no Plausible, no Matomo, no equivalent), and we set no third-party tracking pixels.
Why: to keep the site secure, working, and to see which stories people read.
Email correspondence
If you email hello@orderlypanic.com, your message is stored in our mail system so we can read and reply to it.
Advertising
Orderly Panic does not currently run third-party advertising or ad cookies. If that changes, this policy will be updated before any ads go live, and where the law requires it we will show an appropriate cookie notice.
How long we keep things

Who we share data with
We use our hosting provider, 20i.com, to run the site and its email. They process data on our behalf. We do not sell, rent, or otherwise share personal data with any other third party. We may disclose data if legally required to do so.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access the personal data we hold about you, correct it, ask us to delete it, or object to how we use it. In practice the common requests are please delete my comment or please tell me what you hold on me. Email hello@orderlypanic.com and we will respond within a reasonable time.
Complaints
If you believe we are mishandling your personal data, you can complain to the data-protection authority in the United Kingdom: ico.org.uk. We would appreciate the chance to put things right first, so please email hello@orderlypanic.com before that if you can.
Children
This site is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from them. If you believe a child has submitted personal data (for example through a comment), email hello@orderlypanic.com and we will remove it.
Changes to this policy
Any changes will be reflected in the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Material changes will be flagged with a notice on the site for a reasonable period.
