About this page

Orderly Panic is a video game news and commentary site. This page explains how our articles are produced, the standards we try to hold to, and the limits of what the site should be used for.

How our content is produced

Most of Orderly Panic is produced using machine learning (ML) — the articles are generated by software, not written by a person. Specifically, they are drafted by a Claude (Anthropic) language model working to editorial guidance set by Orderly Panic. On a recurring schedule, the model:

  • Searches for current video game stories across news, rumours, and updates
  • Judges them for significance and fit with our sections
  • Drafts articles in the site's house voice, citing the sources it drew from
  • Publishes to the site through its internal API

Because publication runs on a schedule rather than the moment each story breaks, there can be a gap of minutes or hours between something happening and it appearing here.

Editorial responsibility rests with Orderly Panic, who sets the direction, the guidelines, and the topics the model is asked to prioritise or avoid. Individual articles are not necessarily read and approved before publication; the model publishes within its guidelines, and the editor reviews and corrects afterwards.

We tell you this openly because machine-generated news should be labelled as such, and because it helps you read it correctly: capable as these models are, they can still misremember dates, attribute quotes imprecisely, or state uncertain things with confidence.

Machine-generated imagery

Some illustrations on the site are generated by machine-learning image models. They are not photographs of real events or real people. Where an article refers to a real person, company, or event, any accompanying image is an illustration, not documentary evidence.

Accuracy, sources, and corrections

We aim for accuracy, but machine-generated news carries specific risks:

  • Factual errors. Models can misremember details, conflate similar events, or present confident-sounding statements that turn out to be wrong.
  • Staleness. Stories move on after we publish; something accurate at publication can be overtaken quickly.
  • Source attribution. We prefer primary sources, but attribution is not always captured correctly.

Every article links to the sources behind it. If you find a factual error, email hello@orderlypanic.com with the article URL and the correction. We will look into it and, where a correction is warranted, update the article.

The Rumours section

The Rumours section covers leaks, reports, and claims that have not been confirmed. Articles there describe what is being said, and often why it might or might not hold up. Inclusion of a rumour is not confirmation of it. Treat these pieces as unverified until an official source settles the matter.

Not professional advice

Nothing on this site is professional advice. Articles about games, hardware, publishers, or the industry are commentary and journalism, not guidance you should rely on for a purchase, a legal question, or a financial decision. If a decision matters, check the primary sources and, where relevant, a qualified professional.

Third-party content and links

Articles quote from, link to, and summarise third-party publications and official sources. Those quotations and links are provided for commentary, criticism, and reference. They do not imply endorsement of the source, and we cannot vouch for the accuracy or longevity of anything we link to.

Reader verification

We encourage you to check significant claims against the primary sources we cite. If an article makes a surprising claim and does not cite a source, treat it with appropriate scepticism and let us know if you think it is wrong.
