We flagged the date a couple of weeks back, so here is the update: Gamescom Opening Night Live runs on Tuesday, August 25, with Geoff Keighley hosting alongside Eefje 'sjokz' Depoortere. In-person tickets sold out, but the show streams free on YouTube, Twitch and Steam, so you are not missing anything from the sofa.
Confirmed for the stage so far
Two games are officially locked for the ONL broadcast at the time of writing: Metro 2039 and The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Songs of the Past, the surprise third expansion CD Projekt Red announced for a 2027 launch. That is a short list, but it is early, and Keighley's shows always pile on reveals in the final week. Expect the confirmed list to grow.
The show floor is doing the heavy lifting
Whatever makes the broadcast, the playable lineup at Gamescom itself (August 26 to 30) is where a lot of the interest sits. Confirmed to be on the floor: Gears of War: E-Day, Fable, Alien: Isolation 2, Persona 4 Revival, Onimusha: Way of the Sword, Crimson Desert, Path of Exile 2, Ace Combat 8 and Splatoon Raiders, among others. Being playable at the show is not the same as getting an ONL slot, so treat the two lists separately.
One thing to keep straight
The big Rockstar moment this month is not here. The GTA 6 Extended Look lands on August 27, on Netflix first, and that is its own thing rather than part of Opening Night Live. If you are tuning into ONL specifically for GTA, you will be waiting two more days after the show.
