File this under rumour, because that's all it is right now. The claim, from GTA leaker TGG (via VGTimes), is that fuel won't be set dressing in GTA 6. It'll be a mechanic: kill the engine, step out, grab the nozzle, hold the button for around ten seconds while a timer runs, and plan long drives around where the service stations actually are. Run dry in the middle of nowhere and you're walking.
Why the caution
Two reasons to keep the salt handy. One, TGG is a repeat GTA leaker but none of this is official, and "insider says" is not the same as Rockstar says. Two, the leaked footage doesn't fully back it up. A separate clip from the leaker known as Cyberleek, flagged by PC Gamer, shows a gas-station refuel interface that looks quick and gamey, a button press rather than a ten-second ritual. So either there are two systems, or the detailed version is someone filling in the blanks.
Would it even be good?
Depends entirely on how often you'd do it. A once-a-session top-up that makes the map feel lived-in? Fine, even nice. A chore that interrupts every third mission? No thanks. The community reaction has been split down exactly that line, and honestly that's the right instinct. Immersion is great until it's a fuel gauge nagging you on the school run.
We'll know when Rockstar shows it or ships it, and not before. This is the same leak firehose that's already shown off mechanics like a six-star wanted level, off the back of the big gameplay-and-map leak. Treat all of it as unconfirmed until it isn't.
