Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls landed on August 6 and, on PC at least, landed badly. Frame drops in the middle of matches, stutters, general chugging, the kind of launch state that had streamer Maximilian Dood uninstalling it on air. Arc System Works has now pushed a patch aimed squarely at the performance mess, and by most accounts it works.

We covered the launch itself, so consider this the "is it fixed yet" follow-up. Short version: mostly, yes.

What the patch does

The fixes target CPU load, which was the root of it. Arc System Works cut CPU usage during both startup and actual matches, sorted audio processing that was quietly hammering the system, and killed a run of unnecessary audio input checks that were causing frame drops. It also fixed frame-rate dips tied to certain resolution settings and the sudden performance drops that hit mid-fight, which is the worst possible moment for your game to hitch.

Players are reporting it cleared up the micro-stutters and GPU utilisation problems that made the launch build a slog. As one put it on the game's subreddit: "Maybe PS5 players will play with us now." That's the real tell. A fighting game lives or dies on whether the cross-platform pool actually wants to queue with you, and a PC version that ran like treacle was scaring people off.

Kotaku spotted the patch and the reaction. If you bounced off Marvel Tokon on PC last week over performance, it's worth another look now. The 4v4 itself was never the problem.
