[UPDATE] Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls Is Live, and the Review Scores Are Landing Late on Purpose

It's out. We flagged yesterday that Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls was landing today on PS5 and PC, and now it has, with all four-a-side of it live.

The wrinkle worth knowing: Sony held review code until launch, timed to the servers going online. So if you're used to a wall of scores greeting a big fighter on day one, you won't get it here. Push Square, among others, said outright they couldn't file a verdict early because so much of the game only exists once the online modes are up. Reviews are coming, they're just coming late, and on purpose.

What you're actually buying

This is Arc System Works doing what Arc System Works does, then bolting on a 4v4 tag twist and the entire Marvel toybox. The launch roster is deep: Wolverine, Storm, Magik, Doctor Doom, Ghost Rider, Iron Man, Spider-Man, Black Panther, Hulk, Star-Lord, Green Goblin, Carnage, Blade, Loki, Deadpool, and more, with Peni Parker, Danger and Ms. Marvel rounding it out.

The honest bit

Fighting games live or die on their netcode and their servers, and this one leaned its whole review timing on those being ready. Give it a few days before you trust any single hot take. If the online holds and the tag system clicks, this could be the anime-flavoured Marvel fighter people quietly hoped for. If the servers wobble at launch, you'll hear about that too. We'll update once the scores actually settle.
