Star Wars: Galactic Racer is out today across PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC, and it arrives with something a lot of licensed games don't get: good will already banked. We wrote last week about it quietly becoming one of the best-reviewed Star Wars games in years, and now the thing is actually on sale rather than just scoring well.
It's a ground racer rather than podracing nostalgia. You play a pilot called Shade, joining the Galactic League, an unsanctioned circuit running through the Outer Rim, and the single-player campaign is the main event rather than an afterthought bolted onto a multiplayer shell. Tracks pull from locations across the series, and the whole thing leans arcade: speed, drifting, and reading a corner, not simulation.
The standard edition is $59.99 / £49.99, which for a full-fat licensed racer in 2026 is reasonable enough. There's a Deluxe with extra vehicles and events, plus a physical Collector's Edition if you're the shelf-display type.
The open question with any Star Wars game is whether the brand is doing the heavy lifting or the game actually holds up. This time the reviews suggest it's the game. That's rarer than it should be, so if a sharp arcade racer appeals, this is an easy one to try.
