Ubisoft is giving Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced a proper send-off. The remaster's final major content update lands today, 27 October, and it's built for people who want the Caribbean to fight back.
The headline addition is New Game+. You restart Edward Kenway's story carrying most of your progress: tools, upgrades, weapons, the Jackdaw's upgrades, pets, money, materials, outfits and more all come across, though you'll need to re-recruit officers and retake forts once the map fog resets. Each run cranks the danger up, throwing more Elite Soldiers and max-rank ships at you, and you can stack it all the way to New Game+++++. There's a fresh NG+ currency too, earned through challenges and by re-looting old chests, which buys exclusive outfits and gear.
For the masochists there's Nightmare Mode, which the devs flatly call a "brutal fight for survival." Enemies hit for 1.8x damage, parry windows shrink, the tell-tale white glint before an attack vanishes, and the one-shot-kill safety net is switched off. Stealth gets nastier too: faster detection, longer investigations, and you now need to be 6m above a guard to stay hidden from above instead of 4m. Even the sharks and jellyfish deal more damage. It is not messing about.
Rounding it out: hidden community chests with no hints, the return of hidden blade, unarmed, single sword and gunblade takedowns from the original, new cosmetics, and a long list of bug fixes covering everything from a tavern mini-game freeze to a soft lock after skinning ocelots. Black Flag Resynced is on PS5, Xbox Series and PC via Steam and Epic.
