Fair warning up top: none of this is confirmed. Nintendo hasn't announced a thing. What we've got is a leaker with a decent record and a very predictable calendar, which is enough to talk about but not enough to bank on.
The leaker is NateTheHate2, who's called a fair few Nintendo moves early - including, per the reporting, a Switch 2 remake ahead of its reveal. He's pointing to a Direct around September 11 or 12. That lines up neatly with Nintendo's habit of running a big Direct in the first two weeks of September nearly every year, so even without a source you'd pencil one in for about now.
Why Zelda's in the frame
The louder rumour is that this one leans Zelda. The reasoning is circumstantial but reasonable: we've seen almost nothing of the long-rumoured Ocarina of Time remake since it surfaced, and the series is sitting on a milestone anniversary Nintendo would usually want to mark. Put those together and a Zelda-flavoured show isn't a wild leap.
But that's exactly where to keep the handbrake on. "Nintendo has a Zelda thing they've gone quiet on" plus "anniversaries exist" is a theory, not a leak of an actual line-up. Reliable date guess, much shakier content guess - hold the two apart.
How much to trust it
The date is the strong part - pattern plus a credible name saying the same thing. The Zelda angle is the speculative part, built on silence and a calendar rather than anyone claiming to have seen the run of show. If a Direct does land in mid-September, don't be shocked if it's a broad showcase rather than the Zelda blowout the wishlist crowd is hoping for.
