Quick reminder before you get your hopes up: Rockstar has not announced a third GTA 6 trailer, has not dated one, and has not said a word about gameplay footage. Everything below is fans reading tea leaves. It's good tea, but it's still tea.
What's actually new since we last wrote about this is a date on the calendar. Take-Two Interactive confirmed it will report earnings before markets open on Friday, August 7, with a call at 8am Eastern. That's the first financial update covering the GTA 6 pre-order window, which opened June 25, so it's the first time we'll get real pre-order numbers instead of Take-Two saying "strong" and leaving it there.
Why this week, specifically
Two things lined up. Reporting before the market opens is unusual for Take-Two, which normally files after close, and people noticed. Then on July 28, dataminers clocked at least three separate backend changes to the official GTA 6 site in a single day, including preloaded Art Deco fonts. No new public content, just plumbing. As GTA BOOM and Notebookcheck both pointed out, similar backend movement showed up roughly a day before Rockstar dropped the cover art and pre-order details back in June.
So the theory doing the rounds: Trailer 3, showing actual gameplay this time, lands around August 6, a day before the earnings call does its thing. Insider NateTheHate added fuel in an X Q&A, saying he expects to "see a fair bit of GTA 6 this month" and confirming he meant August. Worth noting he framed that as a hunch, not something a source told him.
What I'd actually bet on
A studio timing a hype beat next to an investor call isn't a conspiracy, it's marketing 101, so the logic holds up better than most GTA rumours. But backend font changes are not a trailer, and "a leaker expects" is not a date. If Thursday comes and goes with nothing, that's on the fans doing the maths, not on Rockstar breaking a promise it never made. The one hard fact here is August 7. The rest is vibes with a decent track record.
