Embark has laid out what's next for ARC Raiders, and it's the chunkiest drop since launch. The Frozen Trail update is due this month, though the studio hasn't pinned an exact day yet beyond October.
What's in it
The headline is a new map, which Embark says is the largest in the game, built with more vertical, layered space than the current spread. On top of that: new ARC enemies with their own designs and behaviour, a reworked and expanded skill tree, and a fresh progression system aimed squarely at the level-cap complaints. There's story content digging into the origin of the ARC, plus the usual pile of new weapons, items and cosmetics. A new Trader mechanic follows the week after, letting late-game players swap high-value gear for cosmetics and extra stash space.
The real change is the schedule
Alongside Frozen Trail, Embark is moving to two big updates a year rather than a steady monthly cadence, with a separate live-service team keeping the day-to-day running: balance passes, bug fixes, store rotations and events.
Read that how you like. Fewer, meatier updates can be a good thing if each one lands like this. The risk is the stretch in between feeling quiet, and that's the bit worth watching once the novelty of a big content dump wears off. For now, Frozen Trail looks like the most substantial reason to reinstall since the game went live.
