Straight up: this is unconfirmed. IO Interactive has not announced a Switch 2 release date for 007 First Light, and what follows comes from a retail listing, not the studio. Treat it as a rumour, because that's what it is.
That said, it's a credible one. An Amazon Japan listing, spotted by a fan on Reddit and since picked up by Gaming Bolt and KitGuru, has the Switch 2 version of 007 First Light dated September 16, priced at 8,910 yen (roughly 40 pounds). Retail listings get dates right more often than not, but they also go up early and get pulled, so nothing here is locked until IO or Nintendo say so.
The catch in the listing
Here's the part worth flagging. The same listing marks the physical edition as a Game-Key Card, which means the cartridge doesn't hold the full game. You buy the box, but you're still downloading the bulk of it. That's an increasingly common move on Switch 2 and an increasingly unpopular one, especially for anyone who buys physical specifically to actually own the thing on the card.
Why it's been so quiet
007 First Light launched back in May on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X and S, and by our earlier coverage it's already shifted four million copies. The Switch 2 version was meant to be day-and-date and then quietly slipped, with no official word on where it stood, until this listing surfaced. If September 16 holds, the wait's nearly over. Just keep the download caveat in mind before you pre-order the shiny box, and don't book it in ink until IO Interactive confirms it.
