The Sinking City 2 is out, and it's a different beast from the original. Frogwares has pushed it toward proper survival horror this time — combat matters more, ammo is scarcer, and the town wants you dead in more ways than one. If you're heading into flooded Arkham for the first time, here's what saves you the early frustration.

Aim for the soft spots

Enemies soak up bullets, and you will not have the ammo to body-shot your way through. The bigger horrors show visible weak points — glowing bits, essentially — and a clean hit there ends a fight fast. Waste rounds hammering the torso and you'll be reloading an empty gun while something the size of a car closes in.

Your inventory is a puzzle in itself

There's a grid-based inventory that caps what you can carry, so you're constantly deciding what's worth the space. Loot everything, but be ruthless about what you keep — ammo and healing earn their slots, the fifth mystery trinket usually doesn't. Solve the optional puzzles and crack the collectible chests too; that's where new weapons and upgrades come from.

Sanity is a real resource

This is the one that catches people out. Watching horrors, lingering too long in flooded darkness, or failing certain puzzles chips away at your sanity, and when it drops far enough the screen warps and enemies appear that aren't actually there. If you're suddenly fighting something that shrugs off every shot, ask whether it's real before you empty a magazine into a hallucination.

Know when to walk away

Not every fight is meant to be won on the spot. Some encounters you meet head-on; others you back out of, double round via an unlocked shortcut, restock, and return better armed. Retreating isn't losing here — it's just reading the situation. Arkham rewards patience far more than bravado.
