The rumour we covered in August has turned into a date on the calendar. Sony made it official on the PlayStation Blog: State of Play returns this Thursday, September 3. The exact day the leakers flagged, confirmed by Sony itself.

What's actually happening

There are two broadcasts, back to back. The main show covers PlayStation Studios and third-party developers, and it airs at 6am PT / 9am ET / 3pm CEST / 10pm JST, which is 2pm here in the UK, on YouTube and Twitch. English audio, Japanese subtitles available. It closes with an extended look at Final Fantasy VII Revelation from Square Enix.

Straight after, a new State of Play Japan runs, hosted by Yuki Kaji, with deep dives on games from Japanese and Asian studios.

The FF7 Revelation closer is the bit people will circle. Two shows in one sitting is a lot of runtime, so it could be genuinely stacked or it could be padded out. No way to call it until Thursday, but the headline act is a good one to end on.
