With the free 2.0 update and the Cost of Hope expansion landing this week, a lot of people are wandering back into STALKER 2, or in fresh. The Zone does not do tutorials well, and 2.0 makes the world a bit more alive than you might remember. Here are the habits that matter.

Your gun is only as good as its condition

Weapons degrade fast, and a worn one jams at the worst possible moment. Do not haul every rifle off a corpse to sell; the low-condition ones are barely worth the weight. Grab the guns in decent shape, strip the rest for repair value, and keep one reliable primary maintained rather than juggling five sketchy ones.

Weight is a resource

Overloading tanks your stamina and leaves you crawling when you need to sprint. Be ruthless about what you carry. Ammo, meds, a couple of repair kits and food earn their slots. That fourth shotgun does not.

Anomalies do not care that you are in a hurry

Toss bolts, watch your detector, and slow down in the shimmering patches. The Zone kills careless stalkers far more often than mutants do. With 2.0 letting fog affect what the AI can see and hear, weather is now a tool as much as a nuisance, so use bad visibility to reposition rather than blundering through it.

Pick your fights and your factions

Ammo is money and money is scarce, so avoid fights that do not pay. Reputation with factions shifts prices and opens quests, so think before you shoot at people whose traders you will want later. And if you are on 2.0, poke around the new Custom Rules difficulty; dialing survival settings to your own taste beats grinding against a preset that is not fun for you.

None of this is glamorous, but that is the Zone. Play patient, stay light, and check your corners.
