Sony has confirmed the PS Plus Essential Monthly Games for September, and it is a decent, unshowy set. The four titles are MLB The Show 26, Sniper Elite: Resistance, Wobbly Life and Chained Echoes, all downloadable from September 1 through to October 5.
What you are getting
MLB The Show 26 is the headline name, with its usual Road to the Show and Diamond Dynasty modes, and PS Plus members also get the Jump Start Bundle for a limited time through the store. It is the recognisable pick, though your mileage depends entirely on how you feel about baseball.
Sniper Elite: Resistance brings the series' stealth-sniping and slow-motion bullet drama to occupied France, running alongside the story of Sniper Elite 5. The campaign is co-op, and there is Axis Invasion and a Survival mode if you want more than the story.
Wobbly Life is the daft physics sandbox for when you want to switch your brain off with a couple of friends.
The one to actually download
The quiet standout here is Chained Echoes. It is a story-driven single-player JRPG that got a lot of love on release, sending a party across the continent of Valandis to end a war between three kingdoms. If you skipped it the first time because it flew under the radar, this is a free excuse to fix that. Grab it before October 5.
