Resonance is a Plague Tale that fights back, and if you're coming off the older games that takes a bit of unlearning. You spent two games avoiding trouble; this one hands you a parry and expects you to use it. Here's what's worth knowing on day one.

Stop treating combat as failure

In the first games, getting spotted usually meant you'd messed up. Here, standing your ground is a real option. Sophia can parry and counter, with finishing moves off a clean read, so a fight isn't automatically a reload. Get comfortable with the parry timing early on the weaker enemies, because leaning on it is the whole point of the new system.

Light is still your best tool

The light manipulation from the first game is back and does more this time, from bending beams through prisms to solving geometry puzzles with it. Treat your light source as a puzzle-solver first and a weapon second. When a room looks like a dead end, the answer is almost always about redirecting light rather than finding a hidden door.

Play the myth, not just the level

There's a thread running through the game built on Theseus and the Minotaur, and it's not background flavour. It mirrors Sophia's own story, so it's worth actually reading the beats rather than skipping to the next fight. It pays off.

Use the free trial that isn't a trial

It's on Game Pass day one, so there's no cost to bouncing off it and coming back. If the new combat feels wrong in the first hour, give it until you've unlocked a couple more tools before you decide. The swing from stealth takes a moment to click.
