At State of Play on September 3, Insomniac did the thing everyone assumed was still a year off: it gave Marvel's Wolverine a real date. It is out September 15, this month, and it is a PS5 exclusive. That is under two weeks from now.
This has been coming since 2021, when Insomniac first teased it. Last year's showcase pinned it to a vague 'Fall 2026' window, and the new trailer finally turned that into a day on the calendar. It is also, on the evidence of the footage, going to be violent. Claws do what claws do, and Insomniac is not shying away from the mess. Liam McIntyre voices Logan.
Why the confidence is earned, mostly
Insomniac made the two best Spider-Man games of the last console generation, so the pedigree is not in question. The wrinkle is the road here. The studio was hit by a large ransomware leak back in 2023 that dumped its entire slate, Wolverine included, so parts of this game have been public for years in the worst possible way. A clean, on-time launch would put a full stop on that.
What we do not know yet is how it plays over a full run rather than a sizzle reel. That is the open question with any Insomniac reveal, and it is the one a fortnight will answer.
Either way, this is the rare showcase headliner you will not have to wait a year to try. Circle September 15.
