Marvel Rivals pushed update 1.70 on Wednesday, timed to the Endgame re-release hitting cinemas with extra footage. No server downtime, which is genuinely nice: you just patch and play. There are hero fixes in there too. But let's not pretend about what this update is mainly for.

The store push

The centrepiece is a temporary Infinity Saga tab dropped into the shop, gathering up every previously released MCU costume bundle in one spot so you can hoover up the ones you missed. Alongside it, a wave of new bundles goes live: the Peni Parker Liquid Shell bundle runs from August 28 to September 25, and the Squirrel Girl Acorn Divinity and Angela Queen of Hel bundles arrive on the 28th as well.

None of that is a scandal. Cosmetics fund a free-to-play game, and if you want the Angela skin, buy the Angela skin. But when a "title update" lands and the patch notes are three lines of hero tweaks under a wall of store dates, it's fair to call it a merchandising beat rather than a content one.

What it isn't

This is not the balance shake-up some players were hoping would land alongside the movie tie-in. If you were waiting on a big meta reset or a new hero, this isn't that week. Check the full notes for the hero fixes that matter to your mains, grab a bundle if one catches your eye, and don't expect the ground to move under the ranked queue. Sometimes an update is just a shop refresh with good timing, and that's fine, as long as you know that going in.
