Fields of Mistria left early access this week, hitting 1.0 on August 5, two years to the month after it first showed up and quietly became a lot of people's comfort game. The full release fills in the stuff that was always missing.

What 1.0 adds

The headline is relationships going the distance: 10-heart romance, proposals, weddings, actual marriage, and children. Beyond that you get the conclusion of the Town Repair storyline, new Saturday Market NPCs, more dungeon and town content, completable questlines, achievements, and a new home exterior. And a giant chicken you can ride around as a fast-travel mount, because of course there is.

Should you care

If you've bounced off waiting for a cozy farm sim that isn't the obvious one, this is the moment to look. Reviews have been warm, and the pitch writes itself: it's the game people reach for when they want that Stardew rhythm with a fresh coat of pixel art. It's not going to knock the king off overnight, but 1.0 is the version where it stops being "promising early access" and starts being a finished game worth your evenings.

It's stayed at $13.99 the whole way through, with 60-plus hours in it now. That's a lot of turnips for the money.
