Hell Let Loose: Vietnam is out August 13, and if it's your first time with the series, the honest warning is this: it will feel awful for about an hour, then click. It's a 50-a-side milsim, not a shooter you can wing. The Vietnam-specific systems aren't fully public yet, so treat the below as franchise fundamentals that have carried across every version - not a datamined feature list.
Pick a role and actually commit to it
Every squad runs on roles - officer, medic, engineer, support, and so on - and the team falls apart when everyone grabs a rifle and wanders off. Pick one, learn what it's for, and play it. If you're brand new, rifleman is the least fiddly place to start while you learn the map and the pace.
Get in a squad and turn the mic on
This is the one that decides whether you have fun. Hell Let Loose is a comms game. Being in a squad with people calling contacts and pushes is worth more than any amount of aim. You don't need to be chatty - just listen, answer, and call what you see. A quiet lone wolf is a wasted slot.
Accept that you're fragile
You will get dropped by a single shot you never saw. That's the game working as intended, not a bug. Move between cover, respect sightlines, and let support fire pin the enemy before you cross open ground. The jungle setting only sharpens this - shorter sightlines mean contact comes fast and close.
Play the objective, not your K/D
Matches are won on capture points, garrisons and supply, not your kill count. Building and defending spawn points, hauling supplies, and holding the line move the needle far more than farming frags out on a flank. If you finish a match with two kills but you kept a garrison alive all game, you did your job.
None of this is Vietnam-specific yet, and we'll dig into the new toys once the game's actually out and we've put hours in. But get these four right and you'll be an asset on Thursday instead of a spawn ticket.
