Nightreign's meta has moved, and if you're still running the tanky low-HP heroic setups from launch, you're playing an old patch. Those got nerfed. The game now rewards aggressive, coordinated burst damage, and the builds carrying runs reflect that. Here's where to point your relics.

The three that are winning

Top of the pile is the Wraith Summoner: the Wraith Calling Bell paired with a Night of the Lord relic, and the summon damage is frankly silly. Want melee? The Guardian with a great spear and a Faith relic is the one, stance breaks plus charged incantations, and it holds a line for the team. For magic it's the old faithful Comet Azur setup on a Sorcerer with mana-regen relics. Faith Guardian and Bleed Assassin sit just behind as the other strong picks.

What matters more than your build

Two things people get wrong. First, upgrade weapons instead of constantly swapping them, and match the weapon's scaling to your character's stats, because a great weapon on the wrong stats is just a bad weapon. Second, and this is the big one: in an extraction game, surviving beats peaking. The characters that quietly dominate aren't the highest-damage ones. They're the ones with self-sustain who can heal themselves while still doing a job for the squad.

Play the RNG, not the plan

Your build isn't a fixed stat spread you commit to at the start of a run. It's a priority list. Lead with your Nightfarer's natural strengths, then bend around whatever relics and loot the run actually hands you. The players clearing consistently aren't forcing a dream build, they're adapting to the one the game gave them. Do that and you'll survive a lot more nights.
