Red Horizon, The Division 2's Year 8 Season 3, has been live since August 27, and its big new toy is the Blackout Dark Zone. The hook is simple and a little scary: no stat normalisation. Your full SHD Watch and Expertise power carry straight into PvP. It is the first Dark Zone where your actual build strength applies against other players, and that changes how you should walk in.
Gear up before you go anywhere near it
Normalisation used to flatten everyone to roughly the same footing. It doesn't now. An underlevelled build is basically free loot for someone maxed out. Do your Expertise and SHD Watch grind first, then step into the Blackout DZ, not the other way around.
Check which zone is live
Variants rotate weekly across DZ West, East, and South, with one PvE zone and two PvP zones active at any time. Toxic and Balanced are on every week, while Blackout and Classic alternate. Look before you leap so you know whether you're walking into a full-power PvP fight or a quieter run.
Feed the Under Pressure gauge
The season modifier builds a Pressure Gauge off kills, headshots, multikills, skill kills and the rest, paying out escalating bonuses at the 10, 35, 65 and 90 percent thresholds. It drains if you sit out of cover too long, so keep the pressure on. There are 20 Passive Modifiers to shape it, and three of them reroute the payout into Signature Weapon Damage or Hazard Protection if you're not running a Status Effect build.
Short version: come geared, know the rotation, and play aggressive without leaving yourself hanging in the open.
