Crimson Moon landed on September 1 across PC, PS5 and Xbox Series, and it's asking for very little of your money. It's twenty dollars for the standard version, thirty for the Deluxe. In a September stacked with sixty-and-seventy-dollar releases, that price alone earns it a look.

What it is

It's a third-person gothic action RPG built around fast melee and short, repeatable expeditions into a region called Gildenarch. Game Informer pegged it as a loot-heavy roguelike you can run solo or bring a friend into via two-player co-op, and co-op is where this kind of thing usually comes alive.

How it's landing

Reviews are mixed, and honestly, fairly won. CGMagazine and others praised the lighting and the gothic-renaissance look, and the enemy designs get singled out as genuinely striking. The recurring gripe is variety: you spend a lot of time going from one blood-soaked stone street to another that looks a great deal like the last one, and the novelty thins quicker than it should.

So: not the month's must-play, and it isn't pretending to be. But a twenty-dollar co-op romp with proper lighting and a distinct art style is an easy thing to forgive its rough edges. If you and a mate want a cheap thing to chew through this week, this is a reasonable shout.
