DICE has dated the next Season 4 drop for Battlefield 6, and it's leaning hard into the air-and-sea side of Pacific Front. The Top Gun update lands August 18, and the headline's the one a lot of people were after: Wake Island is back.
This version of Wake pushes naval warfare and carrier play over the old land grab. Alongside it there's a new mode, Carrier Strike, where you sink an enemy carrier by capturing sectors and coordinating vehicle and air strikes, plus a REDSEC Gauntlet mission called Fighter Sweep built around dogfighting and blowing up objectives.
The new hardware
Three bits of kit come with it: the Interdictor sniper rifle and two two-seat jets, the F/A-81F Super Spectre and the F-74A Seacat. Battle royale gets a new point of interest too, the USS Grant at Fort Lyndon, a crashed carrier flagged as a high-value zone with better loot for anyone willing to fight over it.
Two-seat jets always sound brilliant and then live or die on whether the randoms flying them can hold a straight line. We'll see. But Wake Island coming back with a naval twist is a solid reason to reinstall.
