The Battlefield 6 open beta gets a second weekend from August 14 to 17, and this time it's open to everyone with no code required. Given the first weekend pulled a franchise-record crowd, expect full servers and a bit of queueing. Here's what to sort before Saturday so you spend the weekend playing, not fixing.
Deal with Secure Boot now, not at launch
On PC this is the one that caught people out last weekend. Battlefield 6's anti-cheat wants Secure Boot enabled, and if it's off, the game will refuse to launch — no gentle warning, just a wall. Sorting it means a trip into your BIOS/UEFI to turn Secure Boot on (and, on some boards, enabling TPM and switching your drive to UEFI mode). It's a five-minute job when you're calm, and a rage-inducing one when your squad is already in a match. Do it during the week.
Set your basics before you queue
Jump into the settings before your first game rather than mid-firefight. Widen your field of view if you're on PC or a big screen — the default runs a bit tight. Check your aim response and sensitivity, especially if you're on controller, because Battlefield's vehicle and infantry sensitivities are separate and the defaults rarely suit everyone. Two minutes here saves a frustrating first hour.
Actually try the stuff you skipped
It's a beta, so treat it like one. Play the modes and maps you bounced off last time, mess about with classes you'd normally ignore, and don't get precious about your stats — none of this progress carries to launch. If you want a head start on where the good early weapons and attachments are, our loadout guide has you covered.
Expect bugs, expect the odd server hiccup at these player numbers, and don't read too much into either — that's what a beta is for. The full game lands October 10.
