We already knew the Helldivers 2 x Warhammer 40,000 tie-in was landing on August 12 with a bolt pistol in it. On August 7, Arrowhead filled in the rest through Xbox Wire and Steam, and now we have the name, the full contents, and the price. The name is Castellan's Creed. The price is where you should pay attention.
The catch: 1,700 Super Credits
This is a Legendary Warbond, which is Arrowhead's label for a collab, and it costs 1,700 Super Credits rather than the 1,000 every standard Warbond has cost until now. That is the first time the game has charged more for one. You can still earn Super Credits in-game rather than buying them, so it is not a hard paywall, but it is a 70% markup on the usual rate, and it is worth reading it as what it is: a licensed crossover you are paying a premium for.
What's actually in it
The kit leans hard into the Imperial Guard fantasy. Weapons are the R/40-K Hot-Shot Marksman Rifle, the P/40-K Bolt-Pistol, and the 40-K Meltagun, plus a new G/40-K Meltamine grenade that is clearly the Melta Mine by another name. Two armour sets come along, the TG-8 Sharpshooter and the TG-122 Demo-Trooper, both carrying a True Grit passive that boosts weapon handling and support weapon reloads. Round that off with two capes, a "Still Standing" title, and vehicle patterns for every ride in the game.
On the strength of the kit, this is one of the more tempting Warbonds Arrowhead has put out, and the 40K weapons look like they will slot straight into the meta. Just go in knowing it costs more than the ones before it. It drops August 12 on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
