Sega has laid out year two of Sonic Racing CrossWorlds, and the guest list is a proper grab bag. Final Fantasy 7 is in. So is Hello Kitty. And there's a run of retro Sega on top. If you had those three sharing a kart on your 2026 bingo card, well done.

It's the same trick that carried year one, which leaned on Godzilla and Evangelion. The pitch hasn't changed: CrossWorlds is a Mario Kart-style racer that keeps borrowing famous faces from wildly unrelated places, and so far that's been the fun of it rather than the problem.

What's actually coming

Sega has named the three headline crossovers for year two but has kept most of the specifics back for now, so we don't yet know which characters, tracks or karts each one brings. Final Fantasy 7 and Hello Kitty are the obvious talking points; the retro Sega strand sounds like the one long-time fans will quietly care about most. Year two kicks off on 3 November.

Worth saying plainly: a crossover announcement is a promise, not a product. We've seen how thin these can be when the actual content lands as one character and a recoloured track. Sega's year-one run was better than that, so there's goodwill here. Hold the judgement until we see what's in each drop.

And it's cheaper

Alongside the reveal, Sega has given CrossWorlds a permanent price cut rather than another limited-time sale. The company hasn't spelled out the new figure across every storefront, so check your platform's store for the exact number before you buy. If you'd been waiting for it to come down, this is the moment the waiting pays off.
