Phantom Blade Zero, the slick wuxia action game from Chinese studio S-Game that's been turning heads since its 2023 reveal, arrives on PS5 and PC on October 29. That's this Wednesday, and it's worth a heads-up, because the date moved.

S-Game had it pencilled in for September 9, then pushed it back roughly 50 days. The stated reason is the good kind: more time to polish, not a panic. After the year we've had with rough launches, a studio eating a delay to ship something that actually works is not the worst sign.

What you're getting

It's a fast, combo-heavy action game, closer to the stylish end of the character-action genre than a punishing soulslike, though it borrows happily from both. The Standard Edition is $59.99, with a $69.99 Digital Deluxe for the extras. On PC it's on Steam and the Epic Games Store.

One thing for Xbox players to note: there's no Xbox version, and S-Game's own trailer flagged that it won't come to other consoles for at least 12 months after launch. So for now this is a PS5-and-PC affair. Whether it plays as well as it looks is the question everyone's had since that first trailer, and we find out Wednesday.
