Capcom used its Tokyo Game Show Spotlight to give Monster Hunter Wilds' first major expansion, Ascendance, a real look, and to remind everyone the game is heading to Switch 2 on December 4.
Ascendance: the Elder Dragons are back
The extended trailer closed on Teostra, the returning fire-breathing Elder Dragon, and introduced a new one, Gundoraja. The bigger deal for people already playing Wilds is the combat kit: Boost Bracers and Boost Drivers aimed at widening the options across all fourteen weapon types, faster weapon swapping without hopping on your Seikret, and swapping equipment from the Item Box outside the tent. Capcom says several of those quality-of-life fixes are coming to the base game too, not just the expansion.
Ascendance itself lands in 2027, so there's a wait. Capcom hasn't pinned a firmer date than that yet.
Switch 2 in December
Ahead of that, the base game comes to Switch 2 on December 4, with local play between systems and crossplay with the other platforms. That's the interesting one. Wilds is a demanding game, and how it holds up on Switch 2 hardware is worth judging once it's actually running, not before.
All released title updates come along for the ride, and Ascendance will follow on Switch 2 when it arrives in 2027.
