If you've been parked at Helldivers 2's level 150 cap watching your XP bar do absolutely nothing, Arrowhead has news you'll like. The cap is going up to 300, and here's the good bit: the XP you've been earning past 150 isn't gone. It's been quietly banked, and it all gets applied retroactively when the update lands.
That's a small thing that matters more than it looks. Plenty of live-service games would have shrugged and let those hours evaporate. Handing veterans their overflow XP back is the right call, and it's genuinely nice to see it made.
What 150 to 300 actually buys you
The cap bump arrives wrapped in a bigger progression rework. New Galactic War Campaigns and personal progression tracks give you goals to chase beyond the usual Major Orders. Levels past the early game act more like a prestige system now, a way to show you've put the hours in rather than a wall of fresh power. Which is honest, at least. Nobody needs a level 280 Helldiver two-shotting bile titans.
For context
Helldivers 2 shipped with a level 50 cap. The April 2024 patch tripled it to 150. Doubling it again to 300 makes this the biggest progression change the game has had since launch. There's no firm rollout date yet, but it's tied into the same run of updates as the August 12 Warhammer 40,000 warbond, so it isn't far off.
