Techland is still feeding Dying Light 2 years on, and Update 1.29, the Summer of Enhancements, went live on 3 August across PS4, PS5, Xbox and PC. It is a proper grab-bag: some of it quality-of-life, some of it there to make your life worse on purpose.
The early game hurts less
The best change is quiet. Main missions now hand out more XP, with a smaller bump for side missions, so you unlock the fun stuff, heavy attacks, drop kicks, slides, a lot sooner. Anyone who bounced off the slow opening ten hours has fewer excuses now.
Techland also recoloured the UV flashlight from that pinky-purple to a calmer pale blue, and it carried the change across every UV light in the game, cutscenes included. Small thing, but it is the kind of small thing you notice every night.
Viral Rush wants you dead
Then there is the Fully Loaded event, which is where the daytime-safety rug gets pulled. Virals go immune to sunlight, so the middle of the day is no longer a break. Fire a gun, land a hit, or trip a Screamer and you are more likely to draw a crowd, and every so often a beefed-up Viral with extra resistances turns up to ruin the plan. The trade-off: infinite ammo on every firearm. Loud, messy, exactly the point.
The patch also clears out a pile of bugs, including co-op issues, UV traps that forgot to emit light, and an elevator that could leave Aiden stuck. Full notes are on the official Dying Light site and Steam, and VG Times has a readable rundown if you want the highlights.
